“When Alain told me about Charly for the first time, I could feel the "little guy" side of him, camaraderie, brother in his eyes. It was when I found myself in the editing room that I understood everything. Charles Forbes was larger than life, his ability to tell and live his stories in front of the camera fascinated me. If he hadn't been in the military, he would surely have become an excellent director. I wanted to know everything about this man and when I learned that he was from Matane, like me, a sense of pride took hold of me. My greatest sadness is never having met him while he was alive. I salute you Charly, you were and will always remain for me, A REAL MAN.”- Bruno
Lieutenant Colonel Charles Forbes, a career soldier who fought in the Normandy landings and the Korean War, recounts how war shapes a man. Salut Charly! pays tribute to this larger-than-life man. An inspiring and touching portrait.

* Out of respect for the tragic events at the Charlie Hebdo newspaper, we titled it "Hail, Lieutenant!" when it was first published in 2015. We are returning it to its original title, "Hail, Charly!" because for us, it represents the essence of the camaraderie shared with this man.
